Welcome to Part II of my Kansas City Odyssey. In my first Kansas City post, I highlighted some key places I visited, most of which my friend Dan showed me. But sightseeing is only half the experience of exploring a city. In this post, I will cover the eats and drinks of Kansas City that I was fortunate to try out. If you have not checked out my first Kansas City post, here is the link:
Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que
3002 W 47th Ave, Kansas City, KS 66103
This place was very hyped up, and it did not disappoint. This place was on the late chef Anthony Bourdain’s list of 13 places to eat at before you die, claiming it was the best BBQ in the world. A must-eat restaurant if you are in Kansas City. Also, most of Kansas City is in Missouri, so this was the only time I was in the state of Kansas.
Chingu
4117 Pennsylvania Ave, Kansas City, MO 64111
I was genuinely surprised by how good the Korean food was at this place, since it is in Kansas City. They gave us a huge serving of food, which was absolutely worth the bang for your buck.
Westport Cafe
419 Westport Rd, Kansas City, MO 64111
Really delicious brunch food here, French American style. This was also good hangover food.
Snooze, an A.M. Eatery
4144 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64111
Another good brunch spot that I got to munch on. That is all.
Green Lady Lounge
1809 Grand Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64108
This place had such a good vibe. Our group of Dan, Dan’s Populous buddies, and I were able to secure a table right in front of the jazz stage, and we just chilled with cocktails and listened to soothing tunes.
Taco Bell Cantina
4101 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64111
I did not know that Taco Bell Cantina was a thing, but these specialty Taco Bells serve alcohol. The one in Kansas City is located on the ground floor of Dan’s apartment, which seems so convenient for poor decisions. Our drinking group stopped here as the last destination for some drunk munching before heading to bed.
So, should you visit Kansas City? If you are visiting someone or have a work-related trip, Kansas City will treat you fine. If you are looking to vacation, then you should just stick to LA.
